Foxcid

Description

Foxcid is an important product which completely eliminates Clostridium spiroforme and all its symptoms in rabbits which leads to alleviation of its negative symptoms on productive performance of rabbits. Foxcid prevents enterotoxaemia that is a severe diarrheal disease, primarily of rabbits 4–8 weeks old when naturally infected; it also can affect rabbits at all life stages if an inappropriate antibiotic is given orally. Signs are lethargy, rough coat, greenish-brown fecal material covering the perineal area, and death within 48 hours. Foxcid penetrates the cell wall of Clostridium spiroforme and lowers the cytoplasmic pH leading to degradation of the cell wall due to pH gradient. Foxcid helps to restore balanced gut flora after being damaged by Clostridium spiroforme, as it is supported by nutrients which support the growth of beneficial gut flora in rabbit flocks. Foxcid degrades toxins of Clostridium spiroforme by decreasing pH, as the optimum pH level for toxins of Clostridium spiroforme is the neutral pH and they appear to be unstable in a pH less than 6.1 which leads to their degradation.
